This form of the equation of a line is called the slope-intercept form. The y-intercept of a line (b), is the y-coordinate of the point where the graph of the line crosses the y-axis. As we have seen in the Wild About Cupcakes example, it is the value of y when x = 0.

Slope - intercept form is a type of equation (or formula.) It shows you how to graph a line and find the slope and y - intercept of that line.

Slope - intercept form looks like this: y = mx + b

M represents the slope of the line. B represents the y - intercept.

The y - intercept is where the line would intercept the y - axis. The slope is kind of like the angle the line is at (For example: it slopes downward.)
