Part (a)

The filled out table is shown in the attached image below. The idea is to plug in the x values to find the corresponding y values.

For instance, if x = -1, then

y = x^2 - 4x

y = (-1)^2 - 4(-1)  ... every x replaced by -1

y = 1 + 4

y = 5

We have x = -1 and y = 5 pair up

So (x,y) = (-1, 5) is one point on the curve.

You will write 5 just under the -1

Another example:

If x = 1, then,

y = x^2 - 4x

y = 1^2 - 4(1) .... plug in x = 1

y = 1 - 4

y = -3 ... you were close but it should be negative, not positive

You'll do this for x = 2 and x = 4 to get what you see in the table below.

Part (b)

Curve B fits the table. This is the blue curve in the middle. Note how this is the only curve that passes through (0,0). The point (0,0) is from the second column where x = 0 and y = 0 pair up together. You could pick on other points, but I find working with zero to be easiest.
