A math teacher asks Nico and Katya to solve the following word problem.
A car travels 98 miles in 1.7 hours on a freeway where the speed limit is 55 mph.
Was the car speeding?
Nico and Katya both agree that they should use their calculators to divide the miles by the hours to find the speed of the car, and then compare the answer to 55 mph. However, Nico says it's okay to round what his calculator says to the nearest whole number. Katya says that because the calculator displays eight numbers after the decimal point, they shouldn't round. She says they should write down exactly what the calculator shows.
Do you agree with Nico or with Katya?
In a short paragraph, explain who you agree with and provide the reasons why.

The brain volumes (cm cubed) of 50 brains vary from a low of 904 cm cubed to a high of 1488 cm cubed. use the range rule of thumb to estimate the standard deviation s and compare the result to the exact standard deviation of 175.5 cm cubed, assuming the estimate is accurate if it is within 15 cm cubed
