A two-factor experiment is conducted to compare different mixes of gasoline in different types of car. The response variable measures the driving characteristics of the car based on acceleration and other properties relating to the gasoline. Larger values of the response variable relate to improved driving characteristics. Factor A is the gasoline type that has a=2a=2 levels and factor B is the type of car that also has b=2b=2 levels. For each experimental configuration n=3n=3 replicate observations are taken. The resulting sums of squares are SSA =96.33=96.33, SSB =75.00=75.00, SSAB =341.33=341.33, and SSE =194.00=194.00. The cell sample averages are x¯11⋅=32.33 xˉ11⋅=32.33, x¯12⋅=38.00 xˉ12⋅=38.00, x¯21⋅=37.33 xˉ21⋅=37.33, and x¯22⋅=21.67 xˉ22⋅=21.67. Construct the analysis of variance table. What are your conclusions from this experiment? Which type of gasoline is best?
