Derek has a board that is 3.46 m long to make a shelf to fit an alcove 2.63 m long. How much must he cut off his board in order for it to fit?

A family is on a vacation. If they travel 358 miles in the first week and 388 miles in the second week, how many miles have they traveled altogether?

If their car has already 17.028 mi before the vacation, how many miles will it have gone by the end?
