9/6 = 1 3/6

To find the simplest form, you must find the lowest common multiple.  9 and 6 are both divisible by 3.  9 / 3 = 3.  6 / 3 = 2.  This gives 3/2.  That could be the answer, or (if you have to give it as a mixed fraction) 1 1/2. 

If i drew it correctly, then al would also equal 14 in., because the midsegment divides the line ab into 2, equal in length lines.therefore, al = lb
