You are asked to develop a system that will alert city officials when an un- usual health event is happening in the city. The way this will operate is a computer will automatically monitor the number of 911 calls received over an hour. The number of calls recieved can be modeled as a Poisson ran- dom variable. Under normal operating conditions, the average number of calls to 911 in an hour are 10. When an unusual health event happens, the average is at least 20. You are encouraged to use the MATLAB functions poisscdf() and poissinv() for this problem. (a) Develop a Neyman Pearson test for this system assuming a = Pr ['miss'] = 10-6. Calculate the probability of a false alarm. (b) Develop a MAP test for this system assuming Pr[H] =0.01. Calcu- late the probability of false alarm and miss. (c) If the cost of a miss is 1000 times that of a false alarm, develop a minimum cost test for this system. Calcualte the probabilities of false alarm and miss.
