G 3. Researchers want to determine whether drivers are significantly more distracted while driving when using a cell phone than when talking to a passenger in the car. In a study involving 48 people, 24 people were randomly assigned to drive in a driving simulator while using a cell phone. The remaining 24 were assigned to drive in the driving simulator while talking to a passenger in the simulator. Part of the driving simulation for both groups involved asking drivers to exit the freeway at a particular exit. In the study, the number of cell phone users who missed the exit was recorded, as was the number of drivers talking to a passenger who missed the exit. (a) State the null and alternative hypotheses of interest to the researchers. Use words to describe the parameter(s) of interest. (b) The researchers analyzed the data and reported a p-value of 0.0683. Interpret, in everyday language, what this p-value measures in the context of this study and state what conclusion should be made based on this p-value. (No calculation is needed to answer this question.)

(b) suppose that consolidated power decides to use a level of significance of α = .05, and suppose a random sample of 100 temperature readings is obtained. if the sample mean of the 100 temperature readings is x⎯⎯ = 60.990, test h0 versus ha and determine whether the power plant should be shut down and the cooling system repaired. perform the hypothesis test by using a critical value and a p-value. assume σ = 5. (round your z to 2 decimal places and p-value to 4 decimal places.)
