The second part of the play covers more of the effects of the first portion. It is also more comedic than the first part of the play because the audience gets to see how the characters react to other character and their surroundings. This includes the love flower being put on the eyelids of some characters and what they do when they awake. Their are also additional parts added to the play for emphasis of a certain event. When Puck tells Oberon that he had finished putting the flower under Titania's eye, he picks him up and kisses him. This is simply not the case in the play. In the play Oberon just shows his gratitude verbally. When he is told the good news he states, "This falls out better than I could devise." (3.2.37). In the performance he then kisses Puck but in the text he merely follows it up with, "But hast thou yet latched the Athenian's eyes with the love juice, as I did bid thee do." (3.2.38-39). Overall the actors effectively portrayed the emotions and facial expressions of the characters. The added parts can help the audience feel the mood of the situation better while also helping the audience understand more of what is going on. After watching the second part of the play, one might have a few questions. Is love from the flower "real." Is there an antidote for the false love? Now that Oberon's wants are fulfilled, what will he do next?
