the world is full of inequalities! more inequalities than just one answer problems. so think about a real life situation that you can write as in inequality in the form of ax + b > c (or < , < , > ) this could be shopping, video gaming, reading, any activity. use your activity to work through the following questions:
create a real world problem (remember that a problem is something that you don’t know the answer.) that leads to an inequality of the form ax + b > c. you can use any of the inequality symbols (> , ≥, < , ≤) in your inequality.
for this step, just write the word problem. the x is your variable, so be sure to define your variable. the a is the coefficient of your variable or the number of x’s you have. the b is the fixed amount in your problem. the c is your total.
go back to your lesson 3.05 if you want to review some examples.
write your problem here:
i am going to camp with $50. i want to buy a shirt for $18. special activities cost $6, how many activities can i participate in?

write the inequality and show all work to solve the inequality
18 + 6x is less than or equal to 50
18 - 18 +6x = 50 - 18 = 6x = 32
18 - 18 + 6x = 50 - 18
6x = 32
6/6 x = 32/6
x = 5.3
graph the solution to your inequality on a number line. be sure to have the middle of your graph be 0 and show the number line growing in both directions. use a ruler to make your number line and be accurate with you measurements. is you circle filled in or open. upload an image to this form.

explain in detail what your solution means in the context of the problem that you have written.
if i spend $18 on a shirt then i will only have enough money left to do 5 special activities.
