Does this make sense?
1. to scale up the ratio of 30 boys to 48 girls you need to multiply. the two equivalent ratios i scaled were 60: 96 and 180: 288 boys to girls.
ex: 30/48*2=60/96
ex: 60/96*3=180/288
2. to scale down the ratio of 30 boys to 48 girls you need to divide. the two equivalent ratios i scaled were 30: 48 and 10: 16 boys to girls.
ex: 60/24/2=30/48
ex: 30/48/3=10/16

Does the function satisfy the hypotheses of the mean value theorem on the given interval? f(x) = 4x^2 + 3x + 4, [−1, 1] no, f is continuous on [−1, 1] but not differentiable on (−1, 1). no, f is not continuous on [−1, 1]. yes, f is continuous on [−1, 1] and differentiable on (−1, 1) since polynomials are continuous and differentiable on . there is not enough information to verify if this function satisfies the mean value theorem. yes, it does not matter if f is continuous or differentiable; every function satisfies the mean value theorem.
