because there is no point, no story and no end in sight puts people off, these are all points that make the game unlike anything ever made before and sure the graphics could be better and even the sounds of the game aren't great but in its place it has so much content you couldn't do everything possible in one day plus it gives you the creative power to do anything you want. minecraft represents a simpler time that all of us wish we could live. a time when you didn't need a permit or money to use what the earth provides. you don't have to pay for energy or food you simply take what you need and you don't answer to anyone, the monsters in the game are nothing compared to real life threats - if you die you respawn and take back your possessions like nothing ever happened there is plenty of room for error. and to add why not there is so much you can do in minecraft and with all the servers out there, there isn't a reason to why you would ever get board of playing because there are so many different types of servers and different types of opportunity for those server especially when they can have mods included that give the game a much different feel for it.
