How do u guess find the rise over run on y=1/3x+7 ?

rise = 1, run = 3

The slope is the number just to the left of the x. So in this case, the slope is the fraction 1/3

Since slope = rise/run and slope = 1/3, this means

rise/run = 1/3

so rise = 1 and run = 3

meaning that each time we go up 1 unit, we move 3 units to the right. If we start at (0,7) which is the y intercept, and follow the pattern "up 1, over to the right 3" then we will end up at (3,8) as the second point on this line.

note: y = mx+b is the general slope intercept form. The equation y = (1/3)x+7 is in this form with m = 1/3 as the slope and b = 7 as the y intercept.
