Solve the inequality -5 -12 > -6x -4

Combine like terms to make it easier.

-17 > -6x-4

Then add 4 to both sides.

-17 (+4) > -6x (+4)

-17+4 > -6x

-13 > -6x

Careful: When multiplying or dividing by a negative number, FLIP the inequality sign!

Another careful: A negative times/divided by another negative makes a positive!

NO: 13/6 > x

YES: 13/6 < x



X > 13/6 or 13/6 < x

It's preferred that the variable (letter) goes first, but they're both (technically) correct. :)
