Nhà xuất khẩu A và nhà nhập khẩu B mua hàng theo hình thức LC không hủy ngang, ngân hàng C là ngân hàng phát LC. Nhà xuất khẩu sau khi giao hàng đã thiết lập chứng từ (BCT) và gửi tới ngân sách hảng C. Ngày 24/10, Ngân hàng nhận BCT và tra cứu hợp lệ BCT.
Ngày 28/10, nhà nhập khẩu B thông báo cho Ngân hàng C rằng hàng hóa họ nhận được kém chất lượng với kết quả giám định ghi trong BCT. Nhà nhập khẩu đã thuê 1 bên giám sát thứ 3 hoàn toàn độc lập và cũng cho kết quả là hàng hóa kém chất lượng, không đáp ứng các tiêu chuẩn trong chứng từ giám định mà nhà xuất khẩu đã công bố, Vi thể, nhà nhập khẩu B yêu cầu ngân hàng không thanh toán cho nhà xuất khẩu A.
