What is the role of government (local, state, and federal) in developing suburban communities?

the role of the government, wether local, state of federal, is one of the major economical and political debates since the birth of modern social sciences.

extreme economic liberals (school of chicago i.e.) would say the federal government´s role is to keep politics and economy healthy, so that anybody would be able to fulfill their necessities without the state performing any role. neo-keynesian believe that federal government should invest to promote full-employment, the consumer market.

but in such an inequal world, where even in the richest countries we have people starving and freezing to death, it is commonly agreed that the participation of the government in developing lower income populations is necessary. but in which extension this role should be taken, it depends on the state constitutions. (the alabama constitution, i.e., is 40x longer than us constitution)

the tenth ammendment of the us constitution says that all powers not granted to the federal government are reserved for the states and the people. this is the reason we have more contact with state and local governments.

police departments, libraries, and schools — not to mention driver’s licenses and parking tickets — usually fall under the oversight of state and local governments. municipalities generally take responsibility for parks and recreation services, police and fire departments, housing services, emergency medical services, municipal courts, transportation services (including public transportation), and public works (streets, sewers, snow removal, signage, and so forth).

this means that major public services are led by local autorithies, and these services, in developing communities should have more investments, and be watched more closely.

the monroe doctrine is the best known u.s. policy toward the western hemisphere. buried in a routine annual message delivered to congress by president james monroe in december 1823, the doctrine warns european nations that the united states would not tolerate further colonization or puppet monarchs.
