Why was the battle of little big horn considered a “hollow” victory for the native-americans? explain.

The Battle of Little Bighorn was the most decisive Native American victory, and the worst US Army defeat in the long Plains Indian War. George Armstrong Custer was ordered by General Alfred Terry to scout a Native American Camp along the Little Bighorn River. Upon reaching the edge of the camp Custer ignorantly pressed ahead without reinforcements. A force of about 3,000 Native Americans met head-on with Custer's 600 men. Custer's ignorance cost him the lives of all 600 of his men including his own. This is known as Custer's Last Stand. Many white Americans were very unhappy with the outcome of the battle and believed it confirmed most of their thoughts of the Native Americans as bloodthirsty and Wild. Within almost 5 years the Sioux and Cheyenne Indian tribes were all confined in reservations.
