It was based around the idea that if one country fell to communists, others would too, like dominoes would fall and get other dominoes to fall in continuation when you put them all up vertically. Legos had nothing to do with this because they don't fall and don't pull other legos with them.

The policy of containment was about preventing communism from spreading.
