After the Persian war Athens became a dominate state over other Greek states because the Persian war was made up of a series of battles which was fought between  492 - 449 bce this war lasted for so long. the war was between Persia and Greek states .

the main root cause of the war was because Athens and Eretria gave help to the Ionians when they were rebelling against Persia and it's Ruler Darius. these provoked the Persians to attack and invade Greek in two different occasions heavily. during the war the other Greek states sent armies to help the Athenian army but their armies weren't as strong as the Athens army. therefore the end of the Persian war made Athens to be the dominate force in Greek over other Greek states due to its military strength.

1) mexican cession- gaining modern day california, utah, arizona, and new mexico from mexico. caused southern and northern politicians to fight over whether or not there would be slavery in these newly acquired territories.

2) uncle tom's cabin- this famous book described the cruelty of slavery in the south during the antebellum period, causing more northerners to support abolition and southerners to resent the book as they felt it unfairly depicted southern society.

3) kansas- nebraska act- disagreements over whether or not kansas and nebraska would be free or slave states caused issues between northern and southern politicians in congress.

4) bleeding kansas- this fighting took place in kansas after congress allowed this territory to vote on whether or not they would have slavery. citizens were killed and buildings were destroyed during this fighting.
