Why do we believe in gode and have religons were did the start of religons come from

Religions predate our recorded history, the only thing we know is the oldest religion still in practice, which is Hinduism and we still don't know exactly when it was created. We believe (Emphasis on believe) it was created to explain past historical events (Which most likely never occurred) that had been passed down in tales and music. In fact, most religions began because of this reason, the two main reasons religions exist are due to 1. The belief being used to create government power, especially monarchies or kings that were chosen by "Divine Right". 2. To explain natural or past events or stories. As to why people believe in them, everyone has their reasons. Of course the most popular tends to be because their family followed that religion and taught it to their child but there are always deviants from this, growing quite quickly I might add.
