After Civil War, Republicans enfranchised newly freed slaves to maintain the control of Republican over defeated states in South.

The Republicans with an intention to gain the trust and support of the slaves that were given freedom after the Civil War, tried to lure them by attempting to give them the vote right in the elections.

This move of the Republicans was looked at as an attempt to influence the southern states to adopt their thought and philosophy. This act was passed for reconstruction after Civil War and some of the acts are 1866 Civil Rights Act and Freedman’s Bureau.
