How did farming in the united states change in the late 1800s?me

There are two main ways in which farming was transformed during the 1800s in the United States. The first one was a rise in mechanization. As a consequence of the Industrial Revolution, changes in technology developed in almost all industries. One of the industries affected by this was the farming industry. More advanced technology led to higher yields with less employees.

Another important change in agriculture was the decline of plantations after the Civil War. Plantations were enormous expanses of land which were cultivated by slaves. As slavery was abolished, this land was no longer productive in the way that it had been before, as it became very difficult for a single family to hold such large plots of land.
