Egyptian bodies were thought to be preserved in the afterlife through the process of  mummification.why is that you might ask? well, let's find egyptians, at that time, believed that everybody who had died has the chance of an afterlife, also believing that if a person died that their soul will still remain alive and well. which brings us to "ba": the ba is what ancient egyptians believed to be part of a soul. the egyptians believed that the human body is made up of five things: the ka, the ba, the akh, the shadow, and the name. both the ba and the ka were similar because they both represented the personality instilled  in their body. the akh means your physical body, and it represents all of the 5 parts of the human egyptian body that i just listed. the name, of course, represents you and your personality. if you die, and your name isn't written down anywhere, then you would lose the hope of the afterlife. the shadow is the 5th part of the human egyptian body that represented the sun, and that it would provide shade and would serve as protection for your body.    anyways, the 5th part of the egyptian body you need to know about is the "ba"  because if your body were to be encased through  mummification,  then the  ba  would be able to recognize it so that the ba  and the ka would reunite together so that you would be able to transfer into eternal life.
