In december of 1956, the supreme court ended the bus boycott by ruling that

The Supreme Court ruled that segregation laws were unconstitutional.

This 1956 ruling came shortly after the important ruling in Brown vs. Board of Education. In the Brown vs. Board of Education case (1954) it ruled that "separate but equal" facilities for white and black citizens was a clear violation of the 14th amendment. After this ruling, African-American citizens challenged this idea of segregated facilities in a variety of different ways. This included the segregation policy on buses in the city of Montgomery.

This court case would rsult in the desegregation of buses in Montgomery Alabama.
