The situation with the air pollution in London in 1952 became extremely alarming  and it was a disaster for the city and its residents. This extreme pollution was given the name ''killer fog''. The ''killer fog'' was a result of the millions of coal fires which were letting out in the air extremely high amounts of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as lots of toxic heavy particles, which in turn made the air much heavier, and the air became mush more stagnant as well, so it was pretty much not going anywhere but just building up in the city.
