During the Napoleonic wars the European countries that had fallen under the control or influence of the Napoleonic Empire made alliances or coalitions to defeat the French army and rid Europe of Napoleon.  There were seven coalitions formed between 1792 and 1815.  By 1812 Napoleon had pretty much taken over western Europe, most countries had either been annexed to the empire or fell under the categories of "under the influence" or "allies".

The seventh coalition finally defeated Napoleon for good at the battle of Waterloo in 1815.

Since 1796 unrest in France came to spread in the European nations were Napoleon was spreading his ideals.

The nationalism in France went abroad and important Coalitions were formed in order to stop France becoming so powerful.

The French Revolution main enemies formed a coalition ( Austria and Prussia) . The Second Coalition formed in 1798 adding England, Russia, Austria, Turkey and the Naples.

But unable to crush Paris, further coalitions formed until the Seventh Coalition formed and the conditions were given for finally taking Napoleon out of the scene when he returned from exile.

 -He wanted to came back to power but he was defeated in the battle of Waterloo, where it marked a return to old France.

alliances in ww1 were different from ww2 because the entente in ww1 made up of serbia,russia,france,britan,japan and italy later america  and all allied in a sort of balance of power and too keep germany,austria-hungary,and the ottomans down. russia allied the serbians in order to exert its influence in the balkans while france allied the russians because france was still in dismay and insulted after the defeat to the germans during the unification of germany and britian allied the belgians after the germans invasion of belgium.in ww2 the alliances were in a preemptive attempt to deter any further wars into happening while germany and italy allied since they were insulted and humiliated after the previous war while also sharing a similar ideology of facsim along with japan which all 3 had a want for world domination and agreed to assist one another in the endevours

after the civil war, and with the termination of slavery, the south was faced with a big problem; what was supposed to happen and how they were supposed to deal with the freedom and the rights that black people and freed slaves had gained as a result of the north defeating the south and forcing the end of slavery. first, most, if not all, of the workforce of the south came from slaves and they did not have an option to replace the loss of said workforce. second, particularly in the south, people were convinced that black people were lesser, less intelligent, less capable and less smart than whites. this posed a huge problem for them. also, southerners were faced with another issue; freed slaves now had a say in how their lives would be lived and the right to politically choose the way they would be governed. people in the south did not want to accept this, none of this and this opposition and the conflicts that arose from it, not to mention the afereffects of the war, forced the congress of the time to enact and enforce the reconstruction plans that had been proposed by president andrew johnson.
