Why is the information available to archaeologists about early native american cultures very limited?

The main reason why the information available to archaeologists about early native american cultures is very limited is because the Natives used mostly biodegradable things, such as wood, mud, etc., to build their homes and communities--meaning that much of the evidence of their living situations is unrecoverable.
