The Abbasid Dynasty was a feudal theocratic state that existed in Baghdad from 750 to 945 and from 1194 to 1258. It included the territories of modern Arab countries of Asia, part of Central Asia, Egypt, Iran, North Africa and India. After the capture of Baghdad by the Seljuks in 1055, the Abbasid caliphs owned only the region adjacent to the capital.

In the state of the Abbasids, there was a rise over two centuries, but as the feudal fragmentation of the caliphate intensified and the political influence of the guard, composed of Turkic slave ghouls, increased, the dynasty gradually fell into decay.
