Make a list of the main industries in your community and locate them on a map.
You will need to contact your local Chamber of Commerce or City Hall for
information about the industries in your town. If your community has no industry,
choose the nearest city or town that does have industry, and research these
questions in relation to that community. If you live in a large industrial area, you
may choose a small number of industries upon which to focus. Choose a local
industry, and answer the following questions about this local industry:
a. Does this industry get the raw materials for its products from within your
community or from somewhere else?
b. Are the products from this local industry sold in local stores or are they
shipped to other places?
c. How does this industry transport its raw materials to the place where the
manufacturing takes place?
d. How does this industry transport its finished products to be marketed?
