Students will use historic and modern case studies, including Supreme Court cases, amendment initiatives, and legislation to trace the application of civil liberties, civil rights, and responsibilities spelled out in the
Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other amendments.
The above is the standard that students are trying to prove they understand in the essay. Students will pick
a right, civil liberty or responsibility spelled out in the Constitution and show how it has been altered,
changed, or defended by Supreme Court cases, laws, amendments, etc. throughout US History. Try to
focus on the 20th and 21st centuries. The essay needs to be typed, double spaced, Chicago style, times
new roman 12 font. The paper should be approximately 3-5 pages long.
