Evidence of how Domestic slave trade in the United States grew partially because of the higher demand for cotton and the invention of the cotton gin

At the time there were a lot of advancements being made in the textile industry. This increased the need for cotton. and therefore increased the demand for slave labor. What the cotton gin did was made picking cotton a much quicker process, and this led slave-owner's to have their slaves pick cotton because it became so profitable for the slave-owners. So the cotton gin increased the demand for slave labor because it made cotton-picking much more profitable.
