There is one fact that very few people know. The Indian wars were waged for 400 years -- not to be waged by the same combatants, but the time is correct.  400 years is very long time as wars go, and they must have influenced the history greatly.

It had to have slowed the settlement of west.

It had to have taught both sides a great deal about warfare.

It had to have shown that the native population was not going to be subdued easily, and when it was and there was relocation, which resulted in many deaths along the way.

The land originally meant for (mostly) the Cherokee was trespassed many times by the whites who had their own land allocated to them. The trespasses were largely ignored.
