Montesquieu's most famous idea was the separation of powers. This was the belief that a good government separates the different branches within the government so no one person or group became too powerful in a country. This is strongly reflected in the American government as there are 3 branches in the united states. The US government is comprised of the executive, judicial, and legislative branch.
