What purpose did the ghettos serve during the Holocaust? They were barracks where poor and sick people in Germany were sent to live. They were living compounds built by the Nazis to house and kill Jewish people. They were camps where socialists and political prisoners were forced to be laborers. They were holding centers where Jewish people lived until they were sent to concentration camps.
