I honestly believe he uses those to speak to people better. If a large part of the population in the U.S. believes in the words in the Bible and God they are more likely to listen. And God has said in the Bible that everyone is brothers and sisters do not discourage them or look down on them for they are your brother or sister. And he loves all his creations so black and whites aren’t at all different in his eyes.

King is trying to show how the promises made by the founding fathers – in documents like the Emancipation Proclamation and the Declaration of Independence – had not been fulfilled.

King is trying to show that segregation and discrimination is not Godly or Christian.

King does not believe that America can truly be great as long as there is inequality.

King is trying to argue that great men in history – like Jefferson and Lincoln – would support the civil rights movement.
