30. Before the rise of consumerism, people shopped in local markets to meet the needs of the family. According to the principles of consumerism, why should people go shopping? -Shopping was seen as a private matter that had no relationship to the national economy.
-Shopping was seen as task that men as well as women should peform, since women also worked in factories.
-Shopping was seen as a way for wealthy peole to pass time--since they didn't have to work.
