 To make it short, I think Vietnam is culturally distinct from Southeast Asian countries in all because it is culturally East Asia, sharing much of its culture and philosophy with China, Korea, Japan. Vietnam's language is indigenous, but its syntax and vocabulary are very similar to East Asian languages.
