After conflicts ceased, the Navajos were prohibited from trespassing lands, raid neighboring tribes, or engage in warfare with Spaniards and Americans. Many Navajo's followed this rule, however, some did not. This then led to them forced to march 300 miles in 18 days. They were then settled into a 40-square mile area that was not in the same area. This led to them being scattered all over the place. on June 18,1868, they came together again to go home. The US government allowed them to, and they were granted a large tract of land that was located at their original area. They were also given equipment to return to their homeland
