But they embraced Christian beliefs, as well as education, and aspirations. Therefore after Edwards' sermon, they found out many of them were sinners and the effect of being sinners. Because Edwards told them God was able to see all their acts and sinners would eventually fall to hell and that there was no way to avoid it. Thus, they would feel fearful of a punisher god.
