The Berlin Blockade was the principal disaster of the Cold war that lasted for almost one year since 24th June 1948 to 12th May 1949. During the era of transnational occupation and years after the Second World War, the Soviet Union blocked the road, railways, canal access towards the Western Annexed Berlin for the Western alliances. The main ground for the occurrence of the obstruction was the initial phase of the “Cold war”. Joseph Stalin was annexing Eastern Europe through Salami tactics and in the meantime, Czechoslovakia adopted communist ideologies.

Soviet intended that it can bring back West Berlin under the control of it through this blockade. By 1949 spring the blockade proved itself successful as the Western alliances too launched counter-blockade on eastern Germany leading to severe shortage and state of political disorder. In the whole instance, West Berlin was left with no food, medicines and other supplies. On 12th May 1949 Satin called of the blockade as he failed to starve allied out of Berlin.
