When considering the internment camps for the japanese during wwii, what conclusion can be drawn about them?

It was reasonable to have them as the public was fearful of the Japanese, and the Japanese were a minority in the nation. The camps came at a great personal cost of those put in them, but the camps calmed the nation of a Japanese attack on the mainland, which allowed for the country to focus on the war with Japan and Germany.

 The country acted out of anti-Japanese prejudice and fear.  Japanese Americans were more isolated from other Americans.  The Japanese were of a totally different cultural and racial background than most Americans, whereas Italian and German Americans were, like other Americans, of European cultural descent.  So Japanese Americans faced extreme discrimination.

Suspicious of anyone of Japanese heritage, the government restricted the civil liberties of Japanese Americans.  In February, 1942, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, which allowed the Secretary of War to designate certain areas as military zones.  FDR's executive order set the stage for the relocation of Japanese-ancestry persons to internment camps.  By June of 1942, over 100,000 Japanese Americans were sent to such internment camps.
