Explanation:

Russia has the earth´s largest square meter land occupation, about 17 million m2 as well as home to huge reserves of a number of natural resources. These large reserves include timber, energy fuel such as oil, natural gas and coal. Examples of valuable metals ores and minerals are bauxite, gold, silver, copper, diamonds and nickel.  

Russia´s varied geographical and topographical territory means that she has to deal with varied climates. The country occupies almost half of Europe and a third of Asia. Some of the different climate types found in Russia are the arctic, sub-arctic, temperate and subtropical climates.  

This European country is the richest country in natural reserves, 6% of world oil reserves and a third of natural gas reserves. It´s self-sufficiency energy wise and in other major industrial raw materials, makes she a heavy exporter of energy fuels among others. However, she presently depends largely on the reserves located in extensively large, distant and inhospitable parts of her territory such as Siberia. Siberia has an extremely cold and harsh climate for most months of the year. Most of the natural fuel reserves such as coal once found within the European and hospitable economic centres were depleted in 1980s period in which political changes, which led the end of Soviet Union the birth of modern day Russia and the fall of the Wall of Berlin.

Since a great deal of her natural reserves are presently found in distant Siberia where the land is extensive and climate extremely cold, Russia deals with the challenges posed by the transportation of these resources to the industrial centres in the more populated regions of the country.
