Freedom of speech issues happen all over the world. explain and analyze two examples of freedom of speech issues that occur in the united states.

i think in the us, free speech issues are often about the line between free speech and hate. and in the us, issues come up when the state and federal and different laws aren’t in  line, which causes a lot of confusion and courts have to rule on what the law means.

one example would be hateful protest groups like the kkk and westboro baptist church. they have the right to protest in public and express free speech, but they upset a lot of people. there are also some restrictions, like the wbc can’t protest at private funerals, though they can stand right next to them, but overall they have that right to express themselves.  but should they or not.

in the 1800s, chinese workers migrated to the united states, first to work in the gold mines, but also to take agricultural jobs, and factory work, especially in the garment industry. chinese immigrants were particularly instrumental in building railroads in the american west, and as chinese laborers grew successful in the united states, a number of them became entrepreneurs in their own right. as the numbers of chinese laborers increased, so did the strength of anti-chinese sentiment among other workers in the american economy. this finally resulted in legislation that aimed to limit future immigration of chinese workers to the united states, and threatened to sour diplomatic relations between the united states and china.
