But in order to achieve this goal, the Indians must take up a ceremonial dance at each new moon. This message spread rapidly within the Lakota Sioux and their fervor manifestations alarmed the white authorities. They banned the dance on Lakota reservations, but this had little effect in the Indigenous side. The Wounded Knee massacre occurred on December 29, 1890, when an accidental rifle shooting ignited nervous soldiers to open fire against a group of Indians who had come to surrender themselves. as a member of congress, i would have voted to ratify the constitution, or at least to have it tabled. ignoring it was an interested and partial decision.
