Why do you think it was a long time before many people began to object to slavery? what do you think finally led some people to try to abolish slavery

Many people didn't want to object to or disobey the rules as punishments were more harsh back then. Also many people didn't see what was wrong with their actions as white people were dominant and black people were submissive, so if the white people could treat the black people like that without it being viewed as wrong or inhumane then why wouldn't they ? However, people eventually started to realise that the treatment towards black people was actually wrong. Also the black people started to fight back and human rights started to be created meaning that people were treated more equally than before. I believe that the thing that led people to try and abolish slavery is that people were beginning to understand that we should be equal and the treatment of slaves was wrong. This led to small groups of people trying to abolish the slave trade in order to create more equality and less cruelty towards others.
