1828 Presidential Election Slander The 1828 presidential election is often viewed as one of the “dirtiest” in U. S. history. “Caricature and image making rather than substantive issues dominated the election of 1828.” p.251 The supporters of both John Q. Adams and Andrew Jackson engaged in flagrant mudslinging and personal attacks on their rival candidates.

In this assignment you are to do the following.

Read the accusations, below, levied by each candidate’s camp against its opponent.
Take a minimum of two of the charges from each faction and translate each into the language of a 21st century social media post (e. g. Tweet, Face..book comment, You...Tube comment, etc.)
Above your “translated” post indicate the specific historical accusation you are referring to.

The purpose of slander is to be offensive, and each faction in 1828 was deliberately hurtful towards its opponent.
