Every month I cannot wait for my box. I work so hard at the factory and sometimes I only have enough food to make a tuna fish and peanut butter and
jelly sandwich at the end of the month. My box arrives from the Office of
Economic Equality. It has all of my toilet paper, medicine, and food. All of my
neighbors receive the same box. Sometimes I want more but I can only have what
the government gives us. Sometimes on national holidays we receive extra food
and supplies. I am trying to save peanut butter so that I can trade it to buy a nice
gift for my daughter for Christmas.
What type of economy does the reading describe? Please explain why?
