and crafts Inspired by the arts of Luzon (highlands and lowlands)
Do you believe that art is everywhere? Art as we all know can be seen around
us. The beautiful flowers, the sunset and even the dress we wear are work of art. Man has
formulated basic elements with which to express his own interpretation of art called
Elements of Art, Artist's decides on how they want to put them to use. Each element is very
important to a plece of art, but some are strossed more than others.
ELEMENTS OF ART
Line is the path of a moving point Lines define the edges of shapes and forms.
Shape is an area onclosed by line, It is 2 dimensional and can bo geometric or organlo,
Forms are 3-Dimesional. They occupy space or give the illusion that they occupy the
space,
Color is the most expressive element of art and is soon by the way light reflects of a
surface and also adds interest and reality to an artwork
Value the lightness and darkness of a surface. It is often referred to when shading, Value
is also important in the study of color,
Texture. Is the actual surface feel or the simulated appearance of roughness, amoothness
and many others,
Space is the distance around, between, above, below, and within an object.
PRINCIPLES OF ART
Balance is arranging elements so that no one part of a work overpowers or sooms heavier
than any other part. The three different kinds of balance are symmetrical,
asymmetrical, and radial.
Symmetrical (or formal) balance is when both sides of an artwork, If split down the middle,
appear to be the same. The human body Is an example of symmetrical balance,
The asymmetrical balance is the balance that does not wolgh equally on both sides.
Radial balance is equal in length from the middle. An example is the sun
Contrast is the difference between elements of art in the composition, such that each
element is made stronger in relation to the other.
Emphasis is when the artist creates an area of the composition that is visually dominant
and commands the viewer's attention.
Pattern- is the uniform ropotition of any of the elements of art or any combination thereof.
Movomont- Is the result of using the elements of art such that they move the viewer's oyo
around and within the image
Rhythm - Is created by movement complied through the repetition of elements of art in a
non-uniform but organized way.
Unity/Varloty- la visually pleasing agrooment among the elements in a design. It is the
feeling that everything in the work of art works together and looks like it fits.
