The members of the Dixiecrats were southern democrats who heavily opposed the ideas of the civil rights movement. They didn't want segregation to be outlawed and were strong supporters of the idea. They even attempted to stall the bill by using a filibuster. The Dixiecrats were not happy with segregation being outlawed and were angered by it.
