Why did people from neighboring states rush to Kansas to vote on the question of slavery? *

The repeal of the Missouri Compromise affected Kansas because individuals rushed across Kansas to cast votes on the issue of slavery. People from both the anti-slavery and pro-slavery  all came to vote in the elections. This caused Kansas to end up with two separate Legislations.  Kansas got the nickname "bleeding Kansas" with all of the killings and fights that broke out.
